Digipak front cover design

For my front cover I created two designs, one with more vibrant colours and white font (which can be seen at the top) and one with more faded colours and pink font (which can be seen below). When asking some of my target audience 8 out of 10 said they prefered the one above as they feel it suited the genre and idea for the music video more. Therefore I decided to use this one.

Analysis:

My inspiration for using the forest as the front cover came from Atomic Skunk's album cover. I think the use of the forest setting is simple yet effective as it creates a mysterious atmosphere which echoes the music video. The digipak front cover design includes the setting of the forest that is seen in the music video. Because of this synergy can be created between the digipak and the music video therefore generating a continuing theme throughout the product. I think this is effective easier for the audience to identify as well as making it clear the it is one product, rather than lots of different ones.

I decided to go for the approach with no artists featured on my digipak front cover. This is because through my research I have front that many album covers in the dance genre do this and therefore think that by using this convention it will make my digipak more successful for my genre.
An example of this is Flume's album cover which just consists of an interesting, eye catching image.

The name of the band and the track is featured in the top middle of the cover. This is because this is where the buyer will instantly look and so they will gain an instant knowledge of which album it is and the artist. The white coloured and bold font also stands out from the rest of the image therefore again drawing the buyers focus to it. The name of the band has two dots either side of it. I decided to do this as it can make the name of the band a visual logo as well as just a name making it more memorable. This 'logo' can be used on all parts of my digipak in order to emphasise this idea. An artist who inspired my idea for a logo came from Rudimental. They feature their logo on all of their album covers creating an identifiable symbol for their band.
