I have chosen just one word for the potential band names as I think that it makes them more catchy and memorable. They all also follow the theme of revealing something through the light and exposure. I like the idea of the music of the band being the thing they are 'revealing' and 'exposing' to the audience.


Chosen name: Glowgaze
I chose "Glowgaze" because I think that it is unique and has the dance genre feel to it.  

Digipak Ideas

In order to make the digipak cover more edgy for the dance genre I may used mirror images rather than just the regular image of the couple in the forest.

Rudimental- Feel the Love

I like the idea of this synergy for this front cover of a digipak as the image is taken from the music video of "Feel the Love". This allow the buyer to make the connection easily between the song and the music video as well as ensuring the front cover fits the theme of the track. 

Ellie Goulding- Lights

I like how this digipak image reflects the name of the album through the use of the light. I also feel that the image on the front cover of the artist works well as it allows the buyer to create a link between the image of the artist and their album. Another concept I like is that there is no image of the artist on the track list. This means that the buyers attention is immediately drawn to the names of the tracks rather than the background image.

Rihanna- loud

Looking at Rihanna's digipak for her album Loud I like how the theme of colours such as red and pink run throughout every piece. The mise-en-scene of her makeup and hair allow the artist herself to fit in with the theme. 

Target Audience

My target audience for my music video will be females from mid teens (15/16) to young adults (24/25). I have chosen this as this age range are typically know for listening to this genre of music and enjoy going clubbing and partying, where the song is also likely to be played. They are also a similar age to my main artist and so can create a relatable and intimate relationship between my artist and primary target audience.

How my music video will appeal to the target audience: 

1. The artists from Glowgaze will be wearing very up to date and edgy style which is an interest of the target audience. 
2. The artists are both attractive. This will appeal to the predominantly female target audience as Molly will be an aspiration to be her and Freddie will create sexual appeal. 
3. In my audience research, my target audience talked about preferring narrative based music videos. My video is narrative based and is therefore more likely to appeal to them. I have also included some performance elements to the video such as lip syncing which will grab the attention of the target audience as it creates the idea that the artist is performing to them.
   - this performance idea will also appeal to them as the target audience enjoy going to concerts and seeing artists perform. The performance element recreates these experiences and so appeals to them.

This music video will aim to portray the narrative of a couple who wants to get away from everyday life. As seen in the previous mood board the video will show the two in school appearing jaded and uninterested. These visuals will then be followed by contrasting shots of them escaping into isolated, countryside locations to represent the feeling of them being free and happy together. The settings used in the music video will include a classroom, the woods, a tennis court and fields.

  

Style- Because my music video is narrative based the costume will need to fit with the story line. During the moments when the couple are in class and the atmosphere has a more dull feel the actors should wear less colourful attire in order to reflect their dull and trapped mood. However during the moment creating a sense of freedom the couple will wear more colourful colours as well as more casual attire. Although the styling will still be stylish and edgy in order to fit the dance genre. However during the tennis court scene they will wear white and black colours.

Why choose this idea? 

This idea compliments the song as it include contrasting atmospheres of a more slowed feel with the more upbeat and exciting, free feel. The song starts with a slow beat and so the video will start in the classroom with the two protagonists sitting at the tables doing work. Once the vocals start the shot will then cut to an extreme close up of the female protagonist's lips singing to the song. She sings "Don't you think that it's boring how people talk" after this the shot will cut to a teacher teaching the class and then a shot of the two protagonists looking at each other looking bored and held back. Throughout the first verse of the track this theme continues however it includes cuts to shots of empty fields and forests in an attempt to echo the idea that they want to be free and feel trapped. Once the upbeat part of the song starts, after the lyrics "But I know they'll never know me (yeah)" the visual cuts to the couple enjoying themselves in these other locations. I think that this can be very effective as the narrative can be very ambiguous to the audience making it very intriguing and engaging. This is because it may mean that the couple are physically there however because of the cuts between the shots of the classroom it may also create the sense that they are visiting these places in their minds as part of a day dream.
In order to create a relationship between the visuals and the track, shots of the couple laughing and playing tennis on a tennis court will be used. This will happen during the lyrics "Lets go down to the tennis court and talk it up like yeah (yeah)" as well as throughout the upbeat instrumental parts of the song. By creating this relationship it gives more meaning to the lyrics of the song.

In addition to create a visually interesting piece candles will be used in the forest locations. These may in in jars, on the floor or hanging in the trees with ribbons. The candles can signify light and positiveness as well as the idea of a fantasy and dream. I also think that it would be effective to have the candles blown out in the final shot of the video. This can signify the end of the video as well as the end of the fantasy.

Method and Technique

Throughout the video many effects will be used in order to create a very visually interesting piece. The techniques in the video will include a mirrored effect, light effects and slow motion. These effects are all achievable on the software available called Premier. 

These effects will be used in the more upbeat parts of the song, during the protagonists time in the wood, field and tennis court locations. This is because the effects can help to reflect the idea of the protagonists being creative and free as well as the visuals corresponding to the more upbeat sections of the music.

Weather
For the video I am planning to have a different variety of forecasts in order to portray different moods throughout the video. Most of the video will take place on dry yet also sunny autumn days which can be seen in the setting mood board above.

I chose this track because I believe the song can reflect many of the concepts I wish to use in my music video. The song includes a variety of paces creating two different emotions (upbeat and slow) in the song. This fits my video as the idea for my narrative includes some upbeat and happy section with some less upbeat, more sad sections.

As well as the beat of the song the lyrics such as "but they'll never know me" and "I'm bored" allows me to create a relationship between the song and my visuals. This is because the narrative will involve a couple who doesn't believe anyone understands them and wants to get away from reality.

I also think that this song reflects the stylish and "cool" feel of my artist and therefore will promote her style and personality. Because of this many interesting and stylish visual are able to be created which will be appealing to the audience.

Ideas

In order to make my music video more visually interesting I would like to add some concepts to the video. 

Candles

I've had the idea of using candles in the forest because as well as making the video more visually interesting I think this can also go with theme of the music video of the couple being free together. I also like the idea of following the light which can be seen in the first picture below. It could convey the idea of finally reaching the light from the darkness. Furthermore I think it can emphasise the idea of the freedom being more of a dream than reality.

Projector

I really like the idea of using a projector as the images projected onto the characters can create a variety of different atmospheres. The technique is very effective visually as well as very easy to do and so I think it would work very well in my video. Like the candles, I think that the projector can help to portray the idea of a fantasy and dream as it is quite artificial as it puts the characters in a location that they are not physically in.
